Candice Dorfling is a trauma counselor, yoga instructor and body psychology enthusiast. For the better
part of eight years Candice worked with at risk communities in the inner city of Pretoria while obtaining
her B.A degree in Psychology. The last two years of her work here was spent with vulnerable and
destitute women where she offered yoga classes as a therapeutic intervention in order to assist these
women in dealing with stress, anxiety and depression related to trauma. It was here that she discovered
the incredible potential for recovery through therapeutic body based techniques and believes that it is
because the power is given to the individual who becomes the catalyst for their own personal well
being.

About Yoga Roots
Yoga is an age old practice of mindfulness and physical exercise, with the belief that the mind and body
although part of the same being need to be brought into balance intentionally. This is achieved through
the routine practice of various stretching, balancing, strength building exercises, focus and meditation
techniques. The benefits of such a discipline are far reaching for personal growth and not impossible for
anyone, because yoga is not about competition or being the best, it is about meeting yourself exactly
where you are physically, mentally and emotionally finding acceptance for the miracle of your existence
and discovering new potentials within yourself. At Yoga Roots the journey toward the self holds
significance during our practice because healthy roots develop resiliency and as we discover our bodies
potential we connect with our inner strength and begin to live more fully.
